The 2012 Jeep Liberty can certainly hack it in the bushes, but it struggles on the pavement. Dashboard class and fuel efficiency also leave much to be desired. Jeep Liberty SUV offers the following pros: Considerable off-road capabilities; useful towing capacity Jeep Liberty SUV drawbacks are: Sluggish V6 with poor fuel efficiency; outdated four-speed automatic; sloppy handling; subpar dashboard materials quality; poor headlight illumination.

The 2012 Jeep Liberty is provided in three versions: Sport, Limited and a new Jet model.

The entry-level Sport comes traditional with 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, heated mirrors, keyless entry, full performance accessories, air-conditioning, cruise control, cloth upholstery, a fold-flat front passenger bench, 60/40-split-folding and reclining back bench, a tilt-only helm with inbuilt stereo controls, and a six-speaker audio system with a CD player, radio and an optional stereo slot. The Driver's Comfort Group adds Bluetooth phone and stereo connectivity, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a compass and an outside temperature screen. The Well-known Equipment Group gets you updated tires, foglamps, roof rack side rails, back privacy glass, a trunk cover, the compass/outside temperature screen and a leather-wrapped helm. The Convenience Seating Group adds heated performance front seatings (six-way driver, two-way passenger), driver memory functions and leather upholstery.

The Limited contains all of the above auxillary equipment from the Sport along with 17-inch alloy wheels, look chrome trim and an eight-speaker Infinity stereo system. An available Tire and Wheel Group contains 18-inch chrome alloy wheels. The new Jet trim level gets you 20-inch polished alloy wheels, back parking sensors, distinctive exterior/interior trim, side curtain airbags and a safety alarm.

Each trim is available with a towing suite, a panoramic cloth sunroof (sky Slider), a conventional sunroof, back parking sensors and an updated audio system (named Media Center 430) that contains a touchscreen interface, DVD stereo playback and 28GB of digital audio cargo. A Garmin-powered navigator with real-time traffic can be added to the Media Center 430 on the Sport. The Limited and Jet can be equipped with the Media Center 730, which is alike but features a Chrysler-sourced navigation system. The Limited and Jet can also be equipped with the Comfort/convenience Group, which adds automatic conditioning and remote ignition.

Finally, the 4WD Sport can be equipped with the Arctic suite, which essentially contains the trim's other features along with 16-inch black wheels, special vinyl/cloth upholstery, extra leather dashboard trim, satin chrome dashboard trim and special badging. .
