Lexus LS 460 details:
The 2011 Lexus LS 460 is a relative bargain compared to the established European rivals, but still comes up short in terms of personality. Lexus LS 460 Sedan offers the following pros: Serene ride; impeccable construction; smooth, strong V8 power; smart controls features; limolike features for back bench. Lexus LS 460 Sedan drawbacks are: Lacks driver engagement; grabby brakes with subpar stopping performance.

The 2011 Lexus LS 460 is a big luxury sedan provided in standard- and long-wheelbase (LS 460 L) models. Rear-wheel drive is traditional, and all-wheel drive is auxillary on both models. The LS 600H L hybrid is reviewed separately.

The Lexus LS 460 comes traditional with 18-inch wheels, power-folding and heated look mirrors, foglamps, adaptive and automatic xenon headlamps, automatic wipers, a sunroof, cruise control, keyless ignition/entry, dual-zone automatic conditioning, a performance tilt-and-telescoping multifunction helm, a 16-way performance driver bench and 12-way performance passenger bench (includes lumbar adjustments, multilevel heating and memory functions), leather upholstery, wood trim, auto-dimming mirrors, a rearview camera, Security Connect emergency telematics, Bluetooth phone and streaming stereo connectivity and a 10-speaker audio with a Six-cd changer, radio and an Ipod interface. Opting for AWD brings with it a heated helm.

The Lexus LS 460 L adds headlamp washers, automatic high beams, a performance cargo lid, performance door closers, front and back parking sensors, back bench vanity mirrors, ventilated front seatings and heated back seatings as traditional equipment.

Lexus features usually get bundled into expensive packages, but this varies depending on region. The Convenience suite contains all of these items (minus the back vanity mirrors) and adds a performance back sunshade. The Convenience Plus suite goes even further by adding updated leather trim, rear-seat side airbags and performance back seatings with ventilation, lumbar massage and power-adjustable headrests.

Features available on both the Lexus LS 460 and Lexus LS 460 L include the Look suite, which adds the same body kit as the Sport suite and, on rear-drive models, 19-inch wheels with all-season tires. The auxillary navigator adds Bluetooth phonebook download capability, Lexus Enform telematics services, voice controls and real-time traffic, weather, sports and stocks.

Also available is a 19-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound stereo system with a DVD/CD changer. A self-parking system can be specified, but only in a bundle with other features packages. Adaptive cruise control and the Advanced Pre-collision Security system are packaged together. The air suspension is a stand-alone feature available only on AWD models and the Lexus LS 460 L.
