Porsche Cayman details:
Arguably the purest expression of the original Porsche layout, the midengine 2012 Porsche Cayman offers thrilling performance and handling that more than make up for its tight cab and pricey features. Porsche Cayman Coupe offers the following pros: Racecar-precise handling and steering; impressive transmissions; comprehensive and efficient engines; strong brakes; highly customizable. Porsche Cayman Coupe drawbacks are: Expensive options; cramped cab.

The 2012 Porsche Cayman is a two-seat coupe available in base, S, S Black Edition and R versions.

Traditional equipment contains 17-inch wheels, summer high-performance tires, cruise control, air-conditioning, six-way adjustable seatings (power recline, manual fore/aft and height adjustment), a manual tilt-and-telescoping helm, Bluetooth and a four-speaker audio system with a CD player and an Ipod/usb stereo interface. The Porsche Cayman S adds a bigger motor, 18-inch wheels and red-painted brake calipers.

Should you wish to double the base price tag of the Porsche Cayman, Porsche will happily oblige you with a seemingly endless features list. Within well-known packages such as Comfort, Infotainment (with or without a Bose stereo upgrade), Layout and Layout Sport, you'll find items such as adaptive bi-xenon headlights, a navigator, radio, a seven-speaker audio system, larger wheels and tires, and aerodynamic kits.

The Sport Chrono suite adds a lap timer, adjustable driver options and, with PDK, release control. Then there are the numerous configuration choices that will cover just about any dashboard surface in leather, Alcantara, aluminum, carbon fiber, wood trim or look paint.

Many of the items in these packages can be added separately along with various wheel sizes and designs, a limited-slip back differential, adaptive suspension dampers, ceramic-composite brakes (S and R only) and back parking sensors. Inside features include fully powered seatings, three various sport bench designs, heated seatings, ventilated seatings, a sport helm with PDK shift paddles, a heated helm, voice controls, radio, a Six-cd changer and a 10-speaker Bose surround-sound system.

The Porsche Cayman S Black Edition contains all the features of the Porsche Cayman S and adds another 10 horsepower, black look paint, black 19-inch wheels, bi-xenon headlamps, a sport helm from the 911 Turbo, black-painted twin exhaust tips, Porsche Communications Management (PCM -- including Bose update and radio), Bluetooth, universal stereo interface, and model-specific badging on the headrests and door sills.

The Porsche Cayman R is a stripped-down version of the Porsche Cayman S. Here you'll find 19-inch wheels, the limited-slip back differential, a lowered sport-tuned suspension, lightweight sport seatings, the sport helm (with or without PDK) and exterior-paint-matching dashboard trim. It ditches air-conditioning along with a few trim pieces, while the four-speaker audio system is a no-cost feature. (the air-conditioning and stereo can be added rear. ) Most of the regular Porsche Cayman's features are available on the R (including climate control), but certain luxury items like the ventilated seatings and Bose audio are not available. If those lightweight seatings with the nonadjustable backrests are not to your liking, the regular sport seatings from the Porsche Cayman are available. .
