We'll have to wait and see about its reliability, but the 2012 Fiat 500 is yet another stylish subcompact that proves that small can be cool. FIAT Fiat 500 Convertible offers the following pros: Adorable styling; Sport model's capable handling; impressive fuel efficiency with manual transmission; surprisingly roomy for two people. FIAT Fiat 500 Convertible drawbacks are: Wait-and-see reliability; cramped front headroom with sunroof; disappointing fuel efficiency with automatic; less trunk space than rivals; convertible's poor top-down visibility.

The 2012 Fiat 500 is a two-door subcompact hatchback available as a hardtop or Fiat 500C convertible. Both body styles are available in Pop and Lounge versions, while the hatchback adds a Sport midgrade trim.

Traditional equipment on the Fiat 500 Pop contains 15-inch metal wheels and chrome-trimmed wheel covers, keyless entry, full performance accessories, heated mirrors, air-conditioning, cruise control, a tilt-only helm, a height-adjustable driver bench, a trip computer and a six-speaker audio system with a CD player and optional stereo slot. The Comfort suite (standard on the Fiat 500C) adds a leather-wrapped helm with stereo controls, Fiat's Blue&me Bluetooth phone connectivity and an Ipod/usb stereo interface. The Bose Luxury Stereo suite adds radio along with an updated six-speaker system and subwoofer.

The Fiat 500 Sport gains 16-inch alloy wheels, firmer suspension tuning, retuned steering, slightly various look-and-feel, a roof spoiler, foglamps, sport seatings, cloth/vinyl sport upholstery and the Pop's two auxillary packages. radio is a separate feature, however. The Security & Comfort suite (automatic transmission required) contains automatic conditioning, a compact spare tire and heated front seatings.

The Fiat 500 Lounge reverts to the Pop's mechanical tuning and contains its auxillary packages as well. Also included are 15-inch alloy wheels, look chrome accents, foglamps, a fixed glass roof (hatchback only) and updated cloth upholstery. The Comfort Group adds back parking sensors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and heated front seatings. The Luxury suite adds leather upholstery and updated trim. A sunroof and an integrated Tomtom navigator are auxillary on both the Sport and the Lounge. Dealer-installed accessories like dashboard ambient lighting and look graphics are also available. .
