Porsche 911 GT2 details:
With a new 2012 Porsche 911 entering the combination this year, the definitive sport coupe's evolution continues to steadily enhance. With so many variants available, there's probably one that fits your sports vehicle needs. Porsche 911 GT2 RS offers the following pros: Multiple models; precise steering; effortless acceleration; comprehensive brakes; all-wheel-drive option; roomy cockpit; surprisingly fuel-efficient; highly customizable. Porsche 911 GT2 RS drawbacks are: Feature prices add up rapidly.

The 2012 Porsche 911 is available in a dizzying array of variants. As this model year marks the debut of the all-new 991 generation, things get even more confusing, as some of the previous-generation 997 variants will also be sold as 2012 models. The first 991 models will include the Carrera and Carrera S, but there will be a few 997 Carrera and S 2012 models available as production concludes. Confused yet? It gets worse. Initially, the 991 Carrera and Carrera S will only be available as coupes, with convertible models to follow along with a multitude of other 911 models.

The all-new 2012 Porsche 911 (991) Carrera and Carrera S option 19-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights, LED running lights, automatic wipers, heated side mirrors, dual-zone automatic conditioning, partial leather upholstery, four-way power-adjustable sport seatings with manual fore/aft, split-folding back seatings, a tilt-and-telescoping helm, partial leather seatings, a faux suede headliner, a touchscreen controls interface, Bluetooth, a navigator and a nine-speaker audio system with a CD player, satellite radio, Usb/ipod integration and an optional stereo slot.

The Carrera S version has this equipment plus 20-inch wheels, a more comprehensive motor, larger brakes and an active suspension with selectable Sport or Normal driving modes. The larger wheels and active suspension are available features on the Carrera.

Most features are available in packages or individually. Stand-alone features include polished aluminum look trim, front and back parking sensors, a back window wiper, folding mirrors, a sunroof, ceramic composite brakes, a torque-vectoring differential, variable performance steering, a sport exhaust, full leather seatings, a full leather dashboard, 14-way performance sport seatings with driver memory, Sport Seat Plus (18-way performance seatings with more side bolstering) and a performance tilt-and-telescoping helm.

There are also bundled features. The Sport Chrono suite contains dynamic motor mounts, a dash-top stopwatch, a performance screen, adjustable drive options, a shift light for manual-equipped vehicles, release control for PDK vehicles and a helm screen for sport modes. The Luxury suite comes with auto-dimming mirrors, adaptive xenon headlights, headlight washers and heated performance sport seatings. The Luxury Suite Plus adds ventilated seatings, keyless ignition/entry and ambient dashboard lighting. The Bose Stereo suite has a 12-speaker surround-sound stereo system and a six-disc changer. There's also an even more luxury Burmeister stereo suite. Other features include different choices for dashboard trim materials and leather upholstery, multifunction and sport helms and voice control.

The 997-generation models that carry over into 2012 are available in coupe and convertible (cabriolet) body styles for the Carrera and Turbo models, while the Targa model is essentially a hatchback coupe with a big sunroof and back hatch made from glass. All-wheel drive and larger back fenders are added to the Turbo models and any 911 with "4" in its name. The bigger back fenders are also found on the GTS. The GT3, GT3 RS, GT3 RS 4. 0and GT2 RS are coupe only.

The 997 Carrera and Targa trims differ from the 991 generation by featuring traditional 18-inch wheels, single-zone automatic climate control, full leather upholstery and power-reclining front seatings (with manual fore-aft and height adjustment).

The Cabriolet contains a performance soft top, while the Targa contains a bigger, more complex sunroof and a back hatch, both made from glass. A special-edition Carrera Black Edition model is provided for the coupe and Cabriolet; it basically comes with more traditional equipment (at a discounted price) and black look paint. The S trims add a more comprehensive motor, 19-inch wheels, an adaptive suspension and a smaller-diameter helm. The GTS gets more performance, special wheels and original layout flourishes for the look, plus faux-suede trim for the seatings, shift lever and helm.

The Turbo adds 19-inch wheels, a more aggressive suspension tune, original body look-and-feel, full performance front seatings, a full leather dashboard, auto-dimming dashboard and driver-side mirrors and a 13-speaker Bose surround-sound system. The Turbo S adds more performance, an automated manual transmission, carbon-ceramic brakes, adaptive sport seatings and the availability of special two-tone dashboard color schemes. Besides motor and body style attributes, most extra features available on upper trims are auxillary on lower trims. As with the new 991 generation, the 997 features a similarly endless list of features.

The ultrahigh-performance 911 variations delete the back jump seatings. The GT3 gets 19-inch center-lock wheels, a limited-slip differential, improved suspension and brakes, a original body kit, full underbody paneling, manual-adjustable sport seatings and faux-suede trim for the seatings, helm and shifter. Features like Bluetooth and the Ipod/usb stereo interface are features and the audio is downgraded to a four-speaker unit. The GT3 RS gets more horsepower, even more aggressive suspension tuning, a lightweight plastic back window, a fixed carbon-fiber back wing and original bodywork flourishes. The GT3 RS 4. 0is alike, but gets a bigger motor.

The top-of-the-line GT2 RS essentially takes the GT3 RS and adds a more comprehensive version of the Turbo's motor -- albeit with rear-wheel drive. Also included are carbon-ceramic brakes, a more aggressive aero suite, carbon-fiber body panels and look-and-feel flourishes. The GT2 and GT3 variants can be equipped with many of the regular 911's auxillary items, but not all. The auxillary updated audio for these vehicles is the Carrera's base nine-speaker system, and there are a number of further performance upgrades available as well. .
