Porsche 911 Targa details:
The Porsche 911 Targa is something of a original proposition in the 911 line-up. To some the Targa introduces little more than a fancy sunroof, but to others it's a proper model line in its own right. Certainly it looks subtly various, with the addition of its big sliding glass roof and hatchback-opening back window differentiating it from the regular 911 Coupe. The red strip joining the back lights adds some more visual interest at the back, while in profile a differently shaped side back window and a chrome detail strip accentuate the 911's lines.

The Targa gains and loses on the practicality stakes. In the rear with that glass roof open the headroom is tighter than usual, but if more interested in using those seatings as add-on luggage room then the Targa has a useful add-on option. The back glass opens, hatchback style, enabling luggage to be easily dropped into those rear seatings. It's so useful we wonder why Porsche doesn't add an opening back window to all its coupes. The under bonnet luggage space is useful enough, though it'll need to be packed with soft luggage.

Like the rest of the 911 range the Targa owner is likely to spend a while perusing the extensive features list to create their ideal vehicle. All the basics are there, with conditioning, alloy wheels, a CD player and a touch-screen interface to control the infotainment system. For a phone connection, sat-nav, cruise control and a full leather dashboard, extra will need to be paid.
